Qualifications:
- Michigan Elementary Teacher Certification
- At least 4 years of successful teaching
- Ability to work collaboratively and successfully with parents/guardians of students
- Ability to build and maintain appropriate solid relationships with students
- A willingness to commit to ongoing professional development
- Successful experience in working with students with pervasive, persistent behavioral needs.
- Possess the skill needed to analyze problems or concerns, develop alternative approaches to these, and make reasonable decisions that fall within the policy and standard practices of the district.
- Ability to work under pressure to diffuse situations and demonstrate confidentiality for students.
Job Description:- Provide targeted academic and behavioral intervention services to identified students.
- Assist teachers with academic and social/emotional curriculum to support student achievement.
- Serve as a resource to teachers in areas of improving academic and behavioral instruction for all identified students.
- Deescalate situations and provide students with time to think about their choices, create a plan to help make things better, and restore relationships.
- Contact parents/guardians, as appropriate.
- Train staff on behavior interventions, restorative practices, and the use of behavior support resources.
- Collect and analyze student data to create classroom learning environments that assure learning.
- Work collaboratively with the building administrator to make sure staff and students are provided with opportunities to work through conflicts productively.
- Engage families as appropriate in the problem-solving process or inform them of consequences for the student.
- Serve as a resource to classroom teachers in the area of improving academic achievement in the core curriculum areas.
