JOB TITLE: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Para Educator
JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Early Childhood Director. Coordinating and taking direction from the Site Lead Teacher. Work collaboratively with classroom team members in all daily functions of the Child Development Centers to the standards set by the Child Development Division of the California Department of Education, Community Care Licensing- Title 22 and KUSD policy. Abides by the school and district policies and performs various tasks in assisting with the educational needs of students enrolled in the Child Development Centers. The ECE Para• Educator will support all daily functions of the KUSD Child Development Center classrooms and help maintain an environment that is age appropriate and safe. This position will perform duties that assist all ECE Teachers in the daily routines of the classrooms including but not limited to meeting all needs of the children in care including meal prep, first aid, diapering, and toileting. The ECE Para-Educator will follow directions from the Site Lead Teacher and support ECE Teachers in all program functions. Must have a passion for working with infants and toddlers and work well in a team.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience):
- Any combination of education and experience is equivalent to a high school graduate.
- AA degree or higher or 48 post-high school units or passage of the NCLB para test.
- Background check through the department of justice (DOJ) and the federal bureau of Investigation (FBI).
- California driver's license in good standing
- Basic level office procedures.
- Basic level computer skills.
- Basic organization skills
- Good human relations and good communication skills.
- Willingness to take direction and continue onsite professional development.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills, as required by EC 45344 .5 and 45361.5.
- Proof of Tuberculosis (TB) screening/certificate, health screening, and required lmmunization-TDaP , MMR, and Influenza vaccine (may choose to decline influenza vaccine/documentation of exemption)
- Proof of 16 hours of Health and Safety, Pediatric First Aid, and CPR + 1 hour of Child Nutrition (district supplied).
- Must obtain and maintain a food handlers' certificate (district supplied)
- 12 units ECE/CD including core classes. (desirable)
- 3 infant toddler units (desirable)
- Spanish speaking (desirable)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow Konocti Unified School District procedures and policies.
- Assist in providing a stimulating environment where children feel secure and guide child's growth and development.
- Assists Teachers in facilitating high-quality lesson plans reflecting age-appropriate instructional strategies.
- Assists Teachers with developing and implementing emergency procedures as well as universal health precautions.
- Assists program Teachers and staff in maintaining facility, supplies, and materials to reduce waste/breakage/misuse.
- Assist in the supervision of daily routines and activities.
- With guidance support children who temporarily lose physical and/or emotional control through age-appropriate techniques.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, parent meetings, parent conferences or center promotional activities as necessary or assigned.
- Maintain positive and effective relationships with the families of the children enrolled.
- Follow appropriate universal health precautions and food handling procedures.
- Assists Teachers with planning, providing, and evaluating indoor and outdoor environments , activities, and routines to keep children safe, secure, and engaged.
- Assist Teachers with documentation containing examples of children's growth and development to assist in completing assessments.
- Perform daily sanitation, cleaning, and laundry duties.
- Assist in meeting the daily needs of infants and toddlers including but not limited to preparing bottles/snacks/meal s, feeding , diapering, and napping.
- Assists with maintaining written documentation of each child's daily activities including but not limited to diapering, feeding, and sleeping habits, and forwards reports to parents/guardians.
- Assists with supervising students including but not limited to classrooms , nap areas , playground activities, and special events.
- Support all classroom functions and provide staff breaks as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned.
WORKING HOURS AND PERIOD: Unless otherwise provided in the collective bargaining agreement between the Konocti Unified School District and the member representing group, the holidays, vacations, sick leave, lunch period and breaks are as provided by law.
