Job Summary:
The Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Handicraft will be responsible for providing technical expertise, content development, and quality assurance in handicraft-related skill domains. The SME will support the design, validation, and evaluation of training and assessment materials in alignment with Qualification Packs (QPs) and National Occupational Standards (NOS) under relevant Sector Skill Councils.
Key Responsibilities:1. Content & Assessment Development
- Develop and review training materials, assessment tools, question banks, and practical evaluation criteria for various job roles in the Handicraft sector (e.g., Artisan, Craft Designer, Handloom Weaver, Embroiderer, etc.).
- Ensure content aligns with NSQF levels, QPs/NOS, and industry best practices.
- Translate technical knowledge into learner-friendly, structured modules and question papers.
2. Technical Expertise & Validation
- Provide expert input for developing occupational standards, curriculum design, and learning outcomes.
- Validate and review assessment items for accuracy, relevance, and skill coverage.
- Conduct skill gap analysis and update assessment content as per industry changes.
3. Training & Evaluation Support
- Support the training of assessors, trainers, and internal teams on handicraft processes, materials, and assessment parameters.
- Provide guidance on practical demonstrations and assessment of artisan skills.
- Participate in pilot assessments or sample validations to ensure the quality of evaluation.
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure content and assessments meet Sector Skill Council (SSC) and NSDC guidelines.
- Maintain documentation and version control for QPs/NOS, assessments, and validation reports.
- Assist in internal and external audits related to quality compliance.
5. Research & Industry Engagement
- Stay updated with emerging trends, tools, and technologies in the handicraft sector.
- Liaise with artisans, industry experts, and training providers to ensure real-world relevance of assessments.
- Suggest innovations and improvements in skill assessment methodology.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree or Diploma in Handicrafts, Fine Arts, Design, or related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in the handicraft industry or in skill development/training roles.
- Strong technical knowledge of traditional and modern handicraft techniques, materials, and tools.
- Experience in curriculum design, content creation, or assessment development (preferred).
- Familiarity with NSQF, QP/NOS frameworks, and SSC/NSDC guidelines.
- Proficiency in MS Office and content documentation tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Trainer or Assessor under relevant Sector Skill Council (e.g., Handicrafts and Carpet Sector Skill Council).
- Field experience with artisans, cooperatives, or handicraft clusters.
- Knowledge of regional crafts, government schemes (like ODOP, Hunar Haat, etc.), and traditional design processes.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Quality and accuracy of content and assessment tools developed.
- Timely completion of QP/NOS alignment and validation tasks.
- Positive feedback from Sector Skill Council and clients.
- Number of training/validation sessions successfully conducted.

Pay: Up to ₹10,000.00 per month
