Substance Abuse Counselor

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various therapeutic modalities and a commitment to providing high-quality mental health care. This role involves working with individuals and groups to address a wide range of Substance abuse health issues, including but not limited to trauma, addiction, and developmental disabilities. The therapist will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing evidence-based interventions in an inpatient setting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine clients' mental health needs.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clients' unique circumstances and goals.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to enhance client engagement and promote positive change.
  • Offer crisis intervention services as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions for diverse populations.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and support clients' overall well-being.
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives as required, contributing to the advancement of mental health practices.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in mental health counseling.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Valid state licensure or certification as a Mental Health Therapist.
  • Proficiency in crisis management and behavior management techniques.
  • Experience with telehealth platforms for remote therapy sessions is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, grief counseling, addiction counseling, and PTSD care.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
