The City of Peoria's Neighborhood & Human Services Department is seeking energetic, caring and creative individuals to support our AM/PM Program serving elementary students throughout the Peoria Unified School District.

This position is ideal for candidates who:

  • Want flexible weekday hours
  • Enjoy working at different school locations
  • Are looking for part-time work that can vary week to week
  • Enjoy making a positive impact in children's lives

As a substitute Teacher/Caregiver, you'll have the option to work a few hours one week or more the next, depending on your availability and program needs. Assignments may change daily, offering variety and flexibility across 21 elementary school sites.

What You'll Do

  • Provide a safe, supportive and engaging environment for children ages 5-14
  • Lead and participate in fun, enriching activities such as arts and crafts, literacy activities, STEAM projects and games and group activities
  • Serve as a mentor and role model, helping children start and end their school day successfully

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPR/First Aid Certificate
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Valid negative TB test

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:

  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment in accordance with program and city policies and procedures for participants, patrons, co-workers and self.
  • Interest in working flexible, varied shifts through the week at various elementary school locations throughout the City of Peoria.

Compensation: $17.63
