We are accepting applications for substitute teachers for Great Hearts Academies. While we most often meet all substituting needs internally (faculty substitute for each other), we like to have a pool of reviewed/screened/approved Great Hearts Academies substitutes from which to draw for short/long-term substitution needs which may arise at schools within the network. All substitute teachers are required to have a valid, current fingerprint clearance card.

• Our academies are bastions of academic rigor and excellence and attract students who are curious and diligent
• Classes are run Socratically - as a teacher you are expected to be a guide as well as a participant in the search for knowledge, truth, goodness, and beauty

Requirements

Certification is not required to teach at any of the Great Hearts Academies. Great Hearts teachers hold a bachelor's degree or higher, demonstrate both a love for the breadth of the liberal arts, and a depth of knowledge in the subject area(s) they teach. All candidates must be able to demonstrate they are qualified to teach the subjects they are assigned.

Duties

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans
• Manage classroom dynamics to foster a positive learning environment
• Assess student performance through standardized testing and provide feedback
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and participate in professional development opportunities
• Support students with diverse learning needs
