Substitute Teacher

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lessons based on established curriculum plans or teacher instructions.
• Implement lesson plans effectively, ensuring continuity of instruction and student engagement.
• Manage classroom behavior and foster a respectful, inclusive environment conducive to learning for children of diverse backgrounds, including those with autism or special needs.
• Support classroom management by maintaining discipline and encouraging positive interactions among students.
• Communicate clearly with students to facilitate understanding and participation in activities.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual learners, including preschoolers and children requiring additional support in childhood development.
• Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth transitions and uphold school policies.
• Assist with basic curriculum development and lesson planning when needed to enhance instructional quality.
• Uphold safety standards and ensure a secure classroom environment at all times.

Qualifications

• Prior classroom experience or childcare experience is highly preferred, especially with children in preschool or early childhood settings.
• Demonstrated knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies.
• Experience working with students with autism or special education needs is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, parents, and caregivers.
• Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, math instruction, and Montessori methods is desirable.
• Background in early childhood education or childhood development is a plus.
• Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and grade levels.
• Passion for working with children and a commitment to fostering a positive learning atmosphere.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 40 per week
