Joshua Christian Academy is seeking dedicated and flexible Substitute Teachers who will help maintain a Christ-centered, engaging learning environment in the absence of regular classroom teachers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Classroom Management:
- Maintain order in the classroom and ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Implement behavior management strategies consistent with the school's values and policies.
- Ensure that students are following the instructions provided by the absent teacher.
Instructional Delivery:
- Follow the lesson plans left by the regular teacher and adapt as needed to ensure effective learning.
- Provide instruction in various subjects (depending on the assignment), including but not limited to English, math, science, social studies, and Bible.
- Engage students with Christ-centered perspectives and biblical principles relevant to the subject matter.
- Maintain student focus and keep students on task, helping them to complete assignments.
Student Engagement & Support:
- Foster a positive, supportive environment where students feel safe to ask questions and engage with the material.
- Provide support to students with differing learning needs, ensuring accommodations are made as necessary.
- Encourage spiritual growth and character development, modeling Christian values throughout the day.
Communication & Reporting:
- Follow through on instructions and report any concerns to the regular teacher or the school administration.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and document any incidents of concern.
- Provide feedback on student performance and classroom behavior to the regular teacher upon their return.
Spiritual Leadership:
- Integrate Christian principles into classroom instruction and daily interactions.
- Lead or participate in prayer, devotions, and other spiritually enriching activities, as appropriate.
- Model Christlike behavior and build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Qualifications
Education:
- Minimum of a high school diploma (Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred).
- Strong commitment to a Christian worldview and experience in Christian education is highly preferred.
Experience:
- Previous experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is preferred.
