Substitute Toddler/Preschool Teacher

Woodstock Garden School is a very happy toddler/preschool childcare located on a 1/3 acre lush garden full of opportunities to explore and play. We have a year-round garden, and a raspberry patch, plus a bamboo forest with tunnels to explore. The school is located in a 100-year-old bungalow just a few blocks from SE Woodstock Blvd and SE 52nd Ave. We are outside year round.

We are currently hiring for a SUBSTITUTE position to fill in when one of our 5 regular teachers is sick or on vacation. Sometimes that may be several days a week, sometimes none at all. You are never required to take a job on a day you're not available, but I'd like to find a few people who are generally available and interested for when we have last minute illnesses or planned teacher vacations. You would never work alone- we have 3-4 teachers on-site daily working with the groups of kids.

We have a positive, supportive atmosphere and welcome a new teacher who genuinely loves young children, is able to take initiative, and doesn't mind being outside year-round!

All subs must be in the Central Background Registry before their first day of work.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with other teachers to provide quality care and early childhood education for children aged 1 to 4 years using a curriculum as well as active engagement with children during free play.

-Be responsible for feeding, diapering/potty help, and napping a group of 4-6 children.

- Create a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow.

- Spend time outdoors, exploring and utilizing our beautiful garden.

Please note- at least two years of toddler/preschool experience is required for this job, as is a genuine delight in this age of child. Please do not apply if you haven't worked with this age before.
