Summer Camp Counselor – Lakeside Swim School

Location: Chicago, IL
Dates: June 22 – August 7
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay: $17–$19 per hour

About Us

Lakeside Swim School is a premier aquatics program in Chicago focused on helping children build confidence, safety, and strong swimming skills in a fun and supportive environment. Our summer camp combines structured swim instruction with engaging activities to create a memorable experience for every child.

Position Overview

We are seeking energetic, responsible, and engaging Summer Camp Counselors to join our team. Counselors will supervise campers, assist with swim instruction, lead activities, and ensure a safe and positive camp environment.

This is a full-time seasonal position for individuals who enjoy working with children and being active throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety of campers at all times (in and out of the water)
• Assist swim instructors during lessons and help manage small groups
• Lead and participate in daily camp activities, games, and transitions
• Provide a fun, structured, and positive experience for all campers
• Maintain organization during drop-off, pick-up, and activity transitions
• Communicate effectively with staff and parents when needed
• Enforce camp rules and promote respectful behavior
• Help with basic administrative or setup/cleanup tasks as needed

Qualifications

• Experience working with children (camp, coaching, teaching, babysitting, etc.) preferred
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to stay active and engaged for the full camp day
• Comfortable in or around water (swim experience is a plus)
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
• Must be available for the full camp duration (June 22 – August 7)

Preferred (Not Required)

• Previous swim instruction or competitive swimming background
• CPR/AED or Lifeguard certification
