Summer Camp Counselor

Job Summary
Join our vibrant summer camp team as a dedicated Summer Camp Counselor! In this energetic role, you will create a safe, engaging, and fun environment for children of various ages. Your enthusiasm and leadership will inspire campers through exciting activities, educational experiences, and positive interactions. As a camp counselor, you’ll foster growth, confidence, and teamwork while ensuring every child feels valued and supported throughout their summer adventure. Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage children during camp activities, ensuring safety and enjoyment at all times
  • Plan and facilitate age-appropriate games, arts and crafts, sports, theater performances, and educational lessons
  • Maintain a positive environment by managing behavior and promoting teamwork among campers
  • Assist with daily camp routines including check-ins, meal times, rest periods, and transitions between activities
  • Provide first aid when necessary and follow safety protocols to handle emergencies effectively
  • Support children with special needs or behavioral challenges by implementing individualized strategies
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding camper progress or concerns
  • Collaborate with fellow counselors to create an inclusive and welcoming camp community

Skills

  • Strong classroom management skills to guide children’s behavior positively and effectively
  • Knowledge of first aid procedures and ability to respond calmly in emergencies
  • Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, tutoring, or early childhood education
  • Ability to lead recreational activities including sports coaching or theater productions
  • Compassionate approach to working with children with diverse needs or backgrounds
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with kids, parents, and team members
  • Familiarity with child development principles and behavior management techniques
  • Enthusiasm for outdoor activities, arts & crafts, music, or other camp-related interests
