Chippewa Ranch Camp is a traditional all-girls residential summer camp located in Eagle River, WI, with a rich history of 80 years. Our camp is dedicated to fostering friendships, independence, and kindness ang young women through a diverse range of activities such as horseback riding, water skiing, climbing, and the arts.

Summary

The Caretaker at Chippewa Ranch Camp is responsible for maintaining and improving the camp’s physical infrastructure, buildings, grounds and equipment. He/she will oversee the maintenance staff and contractors to ensure all aspects of the camp facility are safe, clean and in good working order. The Caretaker will work year-round with a longer hours during the summer months and a more flexible schedule during the off-season. He/she will work directly with the Camp Owner/Director in communicating the needs and updates as relates to the camp grounds and facilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintenance & Repair- Overseeing all aspects of building construction, repairs and maintenance. This includes utilities, carpentry and equipment.
• Safety & Compliance- Ensuring camp meets safety standards set by the Health Inspector, Fire Marshall and American Camp Association.
• Staff Supervision- Supervising maintenance staff and subcontractors including their schedules and ensuring they have the necessary training and equipment.
• Budget Management- Developing and managing budgets for maintenance, repairs and new construction. This includes keeping accurate records and tracking expenses.
• Inventory Management- Maintaining inventory of supplies, tools and equipment used by the maintenance team, ensuring they are available when needed.
• Communication & Collaboration- Communicating effectively with other camp staff, directors and contractors. Collaborating with these individuals and teams as needed.
• Facility Inspections- Conducting regular facility inspections to identify potential safety hazards and areas needing maintenance.
• Grounds Maintenance- Overseeing grounds maintenance activities, including landscaping, mowing and snow removal.
• Equipment Maintenance- Maintaining all camp equipment including vehicles, boats and more.
• Contractor Management- Working with contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Record Keeping- Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs & inspections.

Qualifications:

The Caretaker position at Chippewa requires technical skills in painting, carpentry, plumbing, vehicle/machinery operation & maintenance as well as groundskeeping. Experience in concrete, electrical, welding, construction and facility/site management would be beneficial.
