JOB SUMMARY: Happy Hollow Summer Camp, which hosts 6 weeks of overnight camp for children ages 7-17, is seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and caring Healthcare Professional to provide a safe and memorable experience for 120 campers and 40+ staff for one week. Our Healthcare Professional is responsible for implementing the overall camp health care plan during the week(s) of camp. Duties include dispersing medication, responding to medical emergencies, and caring for sick and injured campers and staff. The ideal candidate should be an excellent multitasker with a genuine passion for working with and caring for young people.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Licensed in Indiana as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Prescriber
  • Experience with children and young adults desirable
  • Ability to originate, update, and/or monitor health care, maintain records, and implement the health care plan
  • Current CPR and first aid certification
  • Desire to work and live in a camp community
  • Ability to pass a background check

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To be the health manager for the camp; supervise health and cleanliness standards; work with Camp Director and staff; and help provide adequate physical health conditions for all
  • Ensure each staff member and camper has on file a health history form. 
  • Assist with checking in and out medication during camper check-in/out
  • Conduct inventory of supplies and place orders when necessary
  • Establish and follow appropriate medical routines including recordkeeping in the daily medical log, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding medications, and utilizing approved standing orders.
  • Coordinate coverage of health care center if off camp property
  • Make schedule for dispensing daily medications and communicate that with counselors
  • Participate in a day of staff training
  • Keep accident/incident reports that can be used for risk-management assessment
  • Monitor health of all staff
  • Monitor/evaluate camp procedures, facilities, and conditions and suggest modifications that would create more healthful conditions in the camp.
  • At the end of each week clean and sanitize health center for next session
  • Live in the health center 
  • Communicate with Camp Director on health of campers and staff as needed
  • Some duties may be reassigned, and other duties may be assigned as required

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $1,000.00 per week
