Summer Camp Male Counselor

Join our vibrant summer camp team as a Male Counselor dedicated to creating a fun, safe, and enriching environment for children and adolescents. In this role, you will lead engaging activities, foster positive behavior, and serve as a role model for campers. Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage groups of children during camp activities, ensuring safety and participation.
  • Implement structured programs that include sports, arts, theater, and outdoor adventures to promote childhood development and teamwork.
  • Manage classroom or activity area behavior through effective behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement.
  • Provide first aid when necessary, following proper protocols to address minor injuries or health concerns promptly.
  • Support children with special needs or those requiring additional assistance through tailored activities and compassionate guidance.
  • Collaborate with fellow counselors to plan daily schedules, coordinate activities, and ensure smooth camp operations.
  • Foster a supportive environment grounded in respect, kindness, and Christian counseling principles when applicable.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, tutoring, babysitting, or camp environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong classroom management skills combined with knowledge of childhood development principles.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not already certified.
  • Background in special education or early childhood education is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children of diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire young campers.
  • Passion for youth development, sports coaching, theater arts or working with students is highly valued.
