Super Science is an engaging hands-on afterschool program where elementary students explore science through exciting building projects and experiments. Students learn about forces, motion, air, energy, and simple machines while creating rockets, roller coasters, hovercrafts, and other interactive projects. The program encourages curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Role Overview:
We are seeking enthusiastic and energetic Lead Instructors to facilitate fun, interactive science classes for young learners. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, can confidently lead a classroom, and is passionate about making science exciting and accessible.
Key Responsibilities of Lead Instructor:
- Lead engaging hands-on science activities and experiments for elementary students
- Create a positive, safe, and encouraging classroom environment
- Explain scientific concepts in a fun and age-appropriate way
- Guide students through building projects and collaborative activities
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure student participation
- Prepare and organize materials before each session
- Communicate professionally with program coordinators and site staff
- Support student creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking skills
Required Qualifications
- Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, or working with children preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Passion for STEM education and hands-on learning
- Energetic, reliable, patient, and creative personality
- Ability to lead groups independently and adapt to different learning styles
- At least 1 year of experience working with children.
- Minimum of 2 years of college education preferred.
- Ability to pass background checks and TB testing requirements.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry approximately 20–50 lbs. with or without accommodations.
Key Responsibilities of Assistant Instructor
- Assist the Lead Instructor during science lessons and activities
- Help students complete projects and experiments safely
- Encourage student participation, creativity, and teamwork
- Set up and organize classroom materials and supplies
- Support classroom management and maintain a positive environment
- Provide individual assistance to students when needed
- Help ensure classes run smoothly and on schedule
Compensation
Lead Instructor:
- 4 hours of pay per 3-hour camp session (includes planning, prep, and wrap-up)
Assistant Instructor:
- 3.5 hours of pay per 3-hour camp session (includes setup and cleanup support)
Compensation
- Pay range: $25–$32 per hour
- High school students: $20 per hour
- College students: $20–$22 per hour
- Hours will remain the same as current AI instructors
3.5 hours of pay per 3-hour camp session includes:
- Lesson preparation and review
- Setup and wait time at the school site
- Instructional time
- Parent communication
- Student dismissal procedures
- Coordination with the lead instructor and operations team
