Position Overview
Join our seasonal day camp team and help create a safe, active, and positive experience for youth. This role involves supervising children, leading engaging activities, and supporting their growth through structured play, teamwork, and mentorship.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise a group of campers and ensure a positive, inclusive environment
- Plan and lead daily activities such as games, outdoor play, and group projects
- Encourage participation and help build confidence and social skills
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized program space
- Assist with setting up and taking down activity areas and equipment
- Keep accurate attendance and basic program records
- Respond to camper needs with patience, attentiveness, and good judgment
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and team members
- Follow established procedures for safety, supervision, and daily operations
- Be familiar with emergency procedures and respond appropriately when needed
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and special events
- Serve as a positive role model for children
- Support check-in/check-out processes and monitor access to program areas
- Report incidents or concerns through proper channels
- Complete assigned administrative tasks on time
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED required
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (or willingness to obtain)
- Prior experience working with children preferred (camp, childcare, babysitting, etc.)
- Interest or experience in activities such as sports, outdoor recreation, arts, or group programming is a plus
- Ability to organize and lead age-appropriate activities
- Comfortable working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and on a team
- Basic math and problem-solving skills
- Sound judgment in routine situations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stay active throughout the day (standing, walking, participating in activities)
- Frequent bending, reaching, and use of hands
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to assist children physically when needed for safety
Work Environment
- Outdoor setting with exposure to varying weather conditions
- Active and energetic atmosphere with moderate to high noise levels
- May involve typical environmental exposure related to youth and outdoor programs
