Summer Literacy Program Tutor

Restored For More, in partnership with Turn the Page STL is looking for experienced early literacy tutors to provide one-on-one and small group literacy tutoring for 12 hours a week for students, 1st-4grade, enrolled in St. Louis city and county summer programs.

About Restored For More: Restored For More exists to empower students from at risk communities through tutoring and mentoring. We recruit, train, send, and resource tutors and mentors to local schools and non-profit organizations in St. Louis City and County.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18+ years of age
• Complete a background check through MACHS ($42 cost-reimbursed upon submission of receipt)
• At least 6 months of experience working with students from at-risk communities
• Flexible and willing to work around site and time changes (based on student enrollment and field trip schedules). Available the entire duration of the summer programming (Programs range from early to mid June start to end of July beginning of August end)
• Have knowledge/prior experience supporting basic literacy (phonics, reading comprehension, decodable books, Ufli Foundations,etc.)
• Teachable and able to receive feedback and coaching
• Friendly, outgoing, and a positive attitude

About the Role:

• Complete 5 hours of Training (Completed during May)
• Participate in a 2 hour virtual training on Trauma Awareness (Wednesday, May 6th, 6:30pm)
• Participate in a 2 hour in person training on Ufli Foundations, Planning Tutoring Sessions, and Assessing Students (Saturday, May 16th @ Delmar Divine, 9am)
• Complete 1 hour of asynchronous literacy training
• Tutoring - 12 Hours a Week for 8 weeks (June-July) 96 Total Hours of Tutoring
• Assess and discuss results with Executive Director to select students for tutoring
• Implement 30-45 minutes of individualized instruction per student per day
• Keep record of student progress and growth

Total Compensation: $3,744 (Paid 4 times through the programming)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $37.00 per hour
