Beaverton City Library is hiring two enthusiastic, customer-focused team members to support the library’s busiest season of the year as Summer Seasonal Library Specialists. These positions will help community members access library resources, navigate our busy libraries, and participate in our popular summer reading program.
If you enjoy working with the public, thrive in a fast-paced setting, and want to help people of all ages discover everything the library has to offer, this is a great opportunity to contribute during our most active months. Previous library experience is not required.
A typical day in this role:

Start your shift by checking service updates and daily assignments.

Work at reference desks throughout the library.

Share information about Summer Reading and engage families in seasonal activities.

Support coworkers by preparing materials, assisting with projects, or helping keep service areas running smoothly.

Prior library experience is not required. Candidates with customer service, community engagement, recreation, administrative, IT help desk, facilities, or youth program backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
Seasonal Library Specialist is a temporary-part time (20 hours/week) position, expected to last from June-August 2026. Thereare two vacancies: One schedule will be Sunday-Thursday, and the other will be Tuesday-Saturday.

Minimum qualifications:

High school diploma or GED, and

Four years of customer service or library experience; or

An equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licensing and special requirements

Ability to pass reference checks and education verification, and satisfy the requirements of a background check.

Ability to satisfy the requirements of a pre-employment drug screen.
