Summer Spirits Internship Program - 2026

The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (Virginia ABC) is proud to offer the Summer Spirits Internship Program, a paid, full-time professional development opportunity. The program runs from May through August 2026 at our Headquarters in Mechanicsville, Virginia.

This internship provides hands-on experience within participating Virginia ABC divisions, allowing students to apply academic knowledge in a practical, real-world setting. Interns will assist with division projects and gain valuable exposure to public sector operations.

For Summer 2026, internship placement is available within the Bureau of Law Enforcement.

Interns assigned to the Bureau of Law Enforcement will support ongoing division initiatives and assist with operational projects. This internship provides exposure to regulatory enforcement processes and public safety operations within a state law enforcement environment.Interns will assist with division projects and gain valuable experience supporting enforcement-related functions.

This opportunity is designed for students pursuing degrees in criminal justice or related fields.

Eligibility & Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this internship, applicants must:
  • Be pursuing a degree in criminal justice or a related field
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess sound judgment, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Provide an unofficial transcript for verification
  • Successfully pass any required background checks applicable to placement within a law enforcement division
Compensation & Program Expectations
  • Compensation: $20 per hour
  • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Work Hours: Monday through Friday during normal business hours
  • Location: Headquarters - Mechanicsville, Virginia
  • Housing: Lodging is not provided
