The Position

As a swim instructor at British Swim School, you will teach students of all ages in accordance with the British Swim School aquatics program. We are a team of fun-loving people that are serious about saving lives and having fun while doing it!

This specific opening is a Summer Seasonal position at our Renton outdoor pool, with the potential to become a year-round position at our indoor Covington pool starting in September.

Schedule Requirements:

• Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

What we need from you:

• Lifeguard Certificate is a must.
• You need to know how to swim. Ideally, you have an understanding of all four strokes and an overall appreciation for the water.
• You've got to love working with children and seeing them progress.
• You need to have a positive attitude and be ready to enjoy having fun at work. Having fun is mandatory!
• Have reliable transportation.
• Provide references (a reference check prior to employment is required).

Being a swim instructor, you will be provided the training to teach swim lessons to children between ages 3 and 12, following a program that is gentle, fun, and progressive. You will be assigned to a class schedule developed by managers and interact closely with swimmers.

Your Typical Responsibilities

• Reports directly to and supports the Aquatics Manager.
• Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with British Swim School training and program standards, maintaining certifications throughout employment.
• Works the designated weekday summer schedule at the Renton outdoor pool.
• Works in an environment where noise levels can be moderate to high and remains in the water for 3 hours at a time.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active Lifeguard Certification is required.
• High school diploma, equivalent, or in the process of completion (High school students 16+ are welcome to apply!).
• Must be able to commit to the full Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM summer schedule.
• Enthusiastic personality and comfortable in and around the water.
• Must complete all required British Swim School Aquatics-specific training (held at the Covington pool).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with children (e.g., camp counselor, coaching, babysitting).
• Strong swimming background.
• Customer service skills.
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification(s).
