Superintendent - Commercial Construction

Timberline Landscaping, LLC is an award-winning company serving Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas, “Creating your little bit of Heaven” for over 40 years. We offer a full range of services, including landscape design, construction, and maintenance.

We are looking for a Superintendent that will be responsible to oversee the daily operations of projects. This includes the oversight of properties, crew leaders and the installation of landscape, hardscape, irrigation projects (to include hands-on training and installation), client satisfaction, sales through enhancements, and timely submission of financial data. The superintendent is also responsible for and serves as the face of the company for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential landscape contracts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of all site activities, crew leaders, and crew
  • Review the contract, specs, and details with the Project Manager prior to mobilization on site
  • Ensure tickets are in Aspire (our primary construction software) for crews to clock into and approve time daily by 7:00 PM
  • Establish goals for the day and communicate to crew leaders
  • Participate in morning huddles
  • Continually coordinate with crew leaders on job progress and record that information and report to Project Manager to go over project progress, concerns, and questions daily
  • Work job sites from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM for the most critical production of each day and work in the office as needed in afternoons
  • If managing multiple jobs, focus more time with struggling crews while supporting others
  • Share production rates and other important information with crews to push production, be efficient, and stay within budget
  • Set goals for crews to meet daily and hold them accountable
  • Ensure field has all equipment and materials needed to be successful ahead of time by communicating to the project manager what the needs are
  • Be onsite when plants and materials are delivered to verify that material quantities are delivered, accurate, and meet quality expectations
  • Train field personnel as well as contribute to their professional development opportunities at Timberline
  • Enforce and support on-site safety, working closely with safety/HR personnel to report incidents and concerns
  • Schedule equipment and subcontractors and coordinate locates with Project Manager
  • Ensure quality control for plant health and warranty and that site is ready for ownership turnover with no punch list items
  • Assess and request the appropriate amount of manpower for project needs
  • Participate in Pre-punch and final walk through
  • Engage site meetings with the owner or representative
  • Ensure daily cleanup
  • Ensures quality expectations are being met and exceeded
  • Ensures that customers are satisfied through effective communication, relationship building and regular site visits, as well as the ability to develop customer rapport
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Employee must lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (must ask for help when lifting over 50 pounds).
  • Requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, control of hand tools, and other work associated with landscaping
  • Outside work in all weather conditions
  • Split time in office environment
  • 2+ years of superintendent experience and/or 4+ years of crew leader experience in landscape construction
  • Ability to supervise multiple crews/ projects simultaneously
  • Strong proven mentorship and training ability
  • Effective communication skills; including writing, routine correspondence, reports, presenting to employees, and interpersonal communication
  • Must speak and write fluent English
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License with a safe driving record (must be acceptable to our insurance company)
  • Leadership, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills
  • Effective organizational skills that include the ability to self-manage work and manage the work of others
  • Must be highly adaptable to the kinds of change that comes along with working in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Self-starting initiative to get the job done without substantial supervision
  • Must have a smartphone with the ability to download and use mobile apps

Desired:

  • Certifications from the NALP (Softscapes, Hardscapes, and Irrigation LICT, etc.)
  • Proficient in skid loader, tractor, trencher, and excavator and other construction related equipment
  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish
