The California Legislature enacted the nation's first real estate license law in 1917. Providing for the licensing and regulation of real estate licensees, this law continues to serve as a model for similar legislation in many other states. Special Requirements
Government Service
Incumbents in this position, who hold an active California real estate license, will be required place that license on Government Service. The license renewal right is protected while the licensee is employed by a government agency in a position which presents a conflict of interest with holding an active real estate license. The licensee may not perform acts for which a California real estate license is required. See Section 10161.5 of the B&P Code.
