Job Title: Supervisor – ICU
Job Summary:
The ICU Supervisor oversees nursing staff and operations in the Intensive Care Unit. This role ensures critically ill patients receive high-quality care, monitors adherence to ICU protocols, manages staff performance, and coordinates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate ICU nursing staff, ensuring proper assignment and workflow during shifts.
- Monitor patient conditions, review vital signs, and oversee treatments and interventions.
- Ensure compliance with hospital standards, infection control, and ICU protocols.
- Mentor, train, and evaluate ICU nurses, providing guidance on critical care practices.
- Participate in patient rounds, care planning, and multidisciplinary team discussions.
- Maintain accurate records, shift reports, and documentation of patient care and staff performance.
- Assist in ICU admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of ICU equipment, including ventilators, monitors, and infusion devices.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and implement best practices in critical care.
- Respond to emergencies and guide nursing staff in critical situations.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing preferred).
- Significant ICU experience, with prior supervisory or senior nurse experience preferred.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Strong knowledge of ICU protocols, patient monitoring, and emergency interventions.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to assist in patient care, handle ICU equipment, and work long shifts in high-stress environments.
