Summary:

The Respiratory Therapy Supervisor demonstrates skills and knowledge in the management of all types of patients (acute and chronic) including neonates, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. The supervisor can work independently and make decision in critical care situations. Routine decision making will include the pulmonary service manager. The Respiratory Therapy Supervisor is required to direct shift assignments, assist with performance evaluations, help with therapy delivery and perform respiratory therapy consults, and maintain staffing productivity as acceptable levels. Must use time in a productive manner and be timely in all correspondence and interactions. The supervisor will serve as a resource for the other staff members during their daily work functions.

Requirements:

Graduate of an AMA approved program for Respiratory Care and successful completion of the NRBC Exam for Registered Respiratory Therapist required. Must have a minimum of three to five years of experience in hospital Respiratory Care setting. Must have a strong background in adult, pediatric, and neonatal critical care, with a minimum of two years' experience in critical care.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid and current RRT certification with blood gas endorsement CPR required ACLS, PALS, NRP required dependent upon area assigned

NBRC Credentials earned on or after July 1, 2002 will require participation in the NBRC Continuing Education program.
