Third Party International is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to support manufacturing supplier performance in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. This is a part-time contract role, ideal for a hands-on engineering professional with experience driving supplier quality and delivery performance in aerospace or complex manufacturing environments.

About the Role

You will work directly with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Aerospace manufacturing supplier to assess, develop, and improve supplier processes. Your responsibilities will include identifying root causes of delivery or quality issues, leading improvement plans, and facilitating corrective actions that ensure sustainable performance. This position requires 2–3 days per week on-site support.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and improve supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems
• Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
• Support APQP, PPAP, and other qualification activities as needed
• Collaborate with client supply chain, quality, and engineering teams
• Monitor supplier performance metrics and lead improvement plans
• Report progress and risk to stakeholders on a regular basis

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in supplier development, supplier quality, or manufacturing engineering
• Strong understanding of process improvement tools (e.g., root cause analysis, 8D, PFMEA)
• Background in aerospace, automotive, or regulated manufacturing preferred
• Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or IATF 16949 standards
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with suppliers and clients
• Must be available part-time and able to work on-site in the Grand Rapids, MI area
• Must have experience with JobBoss
