Core roles and responsibilities
- Supplier assessment and selection: Reviewing potential suppliers for quality and reliability, often by conducting audits and site visits to ensure they meet company standards.
- Quality assurance and control: Developing and implementing quality assurance processes for supplier materials, conducting inspections, and approving supplier quality documentation like inspection and control plans.
- Problem-solving: Investigating non-conforming materials, performing root cause analysis, and collaborating with suppliers to implement corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Performance monitoring: Continuously tracking supplier performance metrics and identifying areas for improvement to ensure the supply chain is reliable and high-quality.
- Liaison and communication: Serving as the primary point of contact between the company and suppliers to communicate quality requirements and manage relationships effectively.
- Process improvement: Working with suppliers to improve their manufacturing processes and provide training on quality standards and best practices to achieve continuous improvement.
- Documentation and reporting: Maintaining records of supplier quality performance, audit findings, and problem reports.
