The Supply Chain Coordinator for our Manufacturing Facility will coordinate various tasks in the Supply Chain Department with accuracy and attention to detail.
The Supply Chain Coordinator ensures that materials are available at all times in order to maintain production schedules based on demand planning - this includes timely and accurate inventory of raw goods levels, safety stock according to current demand, and guiding the flow of material for the production department. The individual will assist the Supply Chain Manager by researching key information, auditing vendors, locating documents, problem-solving and other tasks as needed.
The individual will work with Sales, R&D, Purchasing and Production to develop and maintain material planning while considering current inventory, lead times, average monthly usage and product shelf life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate material levels utilizing aspects of physical inventory and cycle counting to ensure materials are on hand and just-in-time for production and R&D projects.
- Efficiently creates purchase orders with accuracy and verify vendor acknowledgements
- Contact vendors regarding past due purchase orders, coordinating actual delivery dates with production or other departments
- Update approved supplier status including regular auditing of suppliers for proper certifications, pricing, contact info. Maintain proper documentation.
- Find an agreement and maintain patience when vendors disagree.
- Works with quality and vendors on non-conforming materials. Notify vendors of nonconforming product and start the process for the correction
- Request quotes from vendors, research new vendors, and follow up with vendors on outstanding purchase orders.
- Spot errors on receiving reports, packing slips, invoices and NCRs and have the corrections made. Bring to the attention of the Purchasing Manager matters relating to vendors, delivery errors, and price and count variances.
- Assist as needed with other purchasing responsibilities
Education:
HS Diploma required. Preferred College Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field of study
Experience:
- 1-3 years’ experience in industry: ideally in Purchasing, Scheduling, Planning, or various Supply Chain roles
- Familiar with regulated industry (ISO certified) – preferred in medical device
- 1-3 years’ experience in ERP/MRP systems
- 1-3 years’ experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
Skills:
This individual must also have basic knowledge of industry products and processes, professional phone etiquette, prior data entry experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, the ability to multi-task, and excellent organizational skills.
Must be able to:
- Must be able to analyze data and perform mathematical calculations.
- Communicate with scientific and business groups
- Collaborate with business units and functional partners like IT, Finance, Marketing, R&D and Production
- Ensure that we are receiving the best price for the product, quality and service
- Identify processes needing improvement, and recommend improvements
- Find product and/or service providers needed by various departments and ensure that it is ordered and delivered in a timely manner.
- Reduce inventory levels and increase inventory turn, while ensuring adequate material supply is available to maintain the production schedule.
- Work with new vendors to establish positive relationships, help them understand the culture and needs of the company, quality expectations, and price limits.
- Preserve and improve product quality and customer service, by managing materials, supplier quality, and supplier performance.
