Overview:

The SCM Engineer is a technical and analytical role responsible for optimizing the flow of materials, information, and finances within the aerospace supply chain. This position applies engineering principles and data analysis to design, implement, and improve supply chain processes, ensuring efficiency, resilience, and strict compliance with the rigorous quality and regulatory standards of the Aerospace and Defence sector.

Key Responsibilities

 Process Optimization & Design:

o Analyze current supply chain operations (procurement, inventory management, logistics) using engineering methodologies to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and risks.

o Design and implement optimized layouts, processes, and systems to improve material flow and reduce lead times.

o Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to drive waste reduction and process standardization.

 Demand Planning & Forecasting:

o Develop sophisticated demand forecasting models by collaborating with Sales, Engineering, and Production teams.

o Utilize Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems effectively to ensure accurate and timely procurement of raw materials and components needed for complex aerospace assembly schedules.

 Supplier Technical Management:

o Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to conduct technical assessments of potential suppliers, ensuring they meet rigorous aerospace quality standards, such as AS9100.

o Work directly with suppliers to resolve technical issues related to material specifications, non- conformances, and delivery performance.

 Data Analysis & Metrics:

o Track and report on key supply chain metrics (KPIs) such as On-Time Delivery (OTD), inventory turnover, forecast accuracy, and total cost of ownership (TCO).

o Use statistical analysis to monitor supply chain performance and recommend data-driven improvements.

 Risk Management & Compliance:

o Identify potential supply chain vulnerabilities (e.g., sole-source dependencies, geopolitical risks) and develop robust mitigation strategies.

o Ensure all supply chain processes adhere to relevant trade compliance regulations (e.g., ITAR, EAR, local Defense offset obligations).

 ERP/System Enhancement:

o Serve as a subject matter expert for the ERP/MRP system, ensuring data integrity and leveraging system capabilities to automate and streamline SCM processes.

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, Supply Chain Management.

 Experience:

Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in supply chain engineering, or operations roles.

 Experience within the Aerospace, Defense, or a similarly regulated, high-precision manufacturing environment is mandatory.

 Proven experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, IFS) and advanced Excel/data visualization tools

Required Skills

 Technical Skills:

o Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of statistical analysis, data modelling, and simulation.

o Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.

o Familiarity with quality standards and requirements for the industry, specifically AS9100 and ISO 9001.

o Understanding of technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes.

Soft Skills:

o Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

o Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across engineering, production, and supplier teams.

o Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks in a demanding environment.
