Position Overview

The Operations Leader will oversee and enhance end-to-end fulfilment operations across a network of distribution hubs and local delivery sites. This role is accountable for ensuring seamless execution from inventory forecasting through to last-mile delivery. The leader will drive the next phase of operational transformation by integrating people, process, and technology to achieve best-in-class efficiency, service, and scalability.


Key Responsibilities


Performance & Transformation Management:

Design and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, demand-driven replenishment, and inventory accuracy. Promote data-led decision-making and operational excellence frameworks such as control-tower visibility, inventory controls, and segmented supply chain planning.


Planning Process Redesign:

Revise and enhance existing Sales and Operations Planning processes, implementing collaborative planning tools with key suppliers. Build robust scenario models to support leadership in balancing liquidity and operational expenditure.


Forecasting & Inventory Planning:

Lead analytics and planning teams to align demand forecasts with replenishment strategies, ensuring optimal product availability while minimising excess stock.


Technology & Process Integration:

Champion digital transformation initiatives, including AI-driven planning tools, to improve visibility and decision-making across the fulfilment network.

Operations Leadership:

Oversee all fulfilment activities from warehouse to delivery, including coordination across central distribution centres and outsourced logistics providers. Develop and execute strategies that enhance service levels, reduce waste, and optimise cost efficiency.


Partner & Vendor Oversight:

Manage relationships with third-party logistics and fulfilment partners, ensuring compliance, service quality, and value delivery. Negotiate and monitor KPIs and SLAs to drive performance.


Logistics Transformation:

Assess and implement alternative logistics models, such as cross-docking, warehouse integration, or delivery network optimisation, to reduce costs and improve service levels.


Candidate Profile

  • Proven leadership across multi-site retail, logistics, or e-commerce operations (experience with rapid delivery or omnichannel fulfilment advantageous).
  • Strong analytical background with expertise in forecasting, inventory optimisation, and process improvement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and data-driven problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in leading organisational change and balancing strategic vision with operational execution.
  • Demonstrated success managing outsourced logistics and large-scale distribution networks.
  • Experience of having a background in management consultancy would be advantageous.
