Your role with us

The supply chain services buyer plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services, working closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to meet departmental needs within the supply chain service line. This position involves managing capital equipment and project orders, coordinating with various teams, maintaining accurate records and documentation, and driving process improvements, while also providing support to other team members to optimize supply chain operations.

What you'll do

  • Reviews and processes purchasing requests, ensuring timely placement of orders and meeting requestor needs, while prioritizing capital equipment and project orders according to departmental policy.
  • Coordinates receipt and delivery of equipment and supplies, ensuring accurate matching of delivery documents, processing invoices within 72 hours, and resolving discrepancies with vendors.
  • Participates in solicitation of bids and quotes, cost analysis, and negotiations, providing resource information and assisting requestors in budget justification, while ensuring equitable terms and pricing.
  • Manages software and hardware support and maintenance processes, including pricing agreements, terms, and conditions, and support services, in collaboration with contracts specialists.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, maintains accurate records and documentation, and provides backup support to purchasing and contracts teams as needed.
  • Leads kaizen work and participates in lean methodology, driving process improvements and serving as a resource for team members.
  • Stays informed about industry trends and best practices, applying knowledge to optimize procurement processes and support departmental goals.
  • Utilizes the materiel management information system program to manage procurement processes, ensuring data integrity and efficiency.

Required qualifications

  • Minimum of one year’s buying experience and related inventory control.

  • Success in this role will be enhanced by experience in a healthcare environment, particularly in contract management, negotiation, and capital equipment procurement, as well as the ability to learn and apply technical information related to purchasing and inventory management.
  • Effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including end-users, executives, and staff, will require strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a high level of professionalism and adaptability.
