Supply Chain Transportation Intern

Scheduled Hours: 8:00am-5:00 pm Monday through Friday

Pay: $22/hour

Major Responsibilities:

• Apply analytical and technical skills to solve real business problems within the Supply Chain Transportation organization.
• Support the development of data‑driven tools, dashboards, and processes using Power BI, SQL, and data‑warehouse environments.
• Pull, clean, and interpret large datasets to identify trends, performance gaps, and operational opportunities.
• Assist in building or enhancing SQL‑based applications, queries, and reporting solutions that improve decision‑making and operational visibility.
• Compile and analyze business and operational data to support recommendations for process improvements.
• Complete 1–2 analytics‑focused projects over 6–8 weeks, including research, data modeling, insights generation, and presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership in a 30‑minute presentation.
• Demonstrate Essendant’s Core Values in all work and interactions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work with large datasets, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable insights.
• Experience with SQL (writing queries, joining tables, building datasets) and comfort working within a data warehouse environment.
• Ability to build and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
• Critical thinking, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Curiosity and a proactive approach to asking questions, exploring data, and validating assumptions.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally and collaborate within a team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Leadership qualities and the ability to influence decision‑making through data‑driven recommendations.

Education and Experience:

• Preferred degree would be business focused: Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Management, etc.
• Preferred (but not required) minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0
• Eligibility to work in the United States
