Support Teacher

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Teacher to join our educational team. The Support Teacher will play a vital role in fostering a positive learning environment for children across various age groups, including preschool and early childhood settings. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to child development and education through collaborative teaching, individualized support, and curriculum implementation. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, a strong understanding of childhood development, and a passion for supporting diverse learning needs.

Duties

  • Assist lead teachers in developing and implementing engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, physical education, and Montessori methods.
  • Support classroom management by promoting positive behavior and creating a safe, nurturing environment for children.
  • Provide individualized support to children with special education needs or those requiring early intervention services.
  • Facilitate activities that promote social-emotional development, motor skills, and cognitive growth.
  • Assist with classroom organization, including preparing materials and maintaining a clean learning space.
  • Monitor student progress through observations and standardized testing, documenting developmental milestones and areas needing additional support.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other educators to ensure comprehensive child welfare and educational success.
  • Support classroom routines such as diapering or toddler care as needed in early childhood settings.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to childhood education, behavior management, and classroom strategies.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices.
  • Experience with curriculum development across various subjects including literacy, math, physical education, and special education.
  • Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies.
  • Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, private school environments, or similar settings.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods for diverse learners including those with special needs or requiring early intervention services.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and engage families.
  • Skills in lesson planning, tutoring, and implementing standardized testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of Montessori methods or experience with preschool programs is a plus.
