Responsibilities

  • Lead daily surf lessons tailored to different skill levels, ensuring safety and fun for all participants
  • Manage group activities, including beach games, team-building exercises, and environmental education related to ocean safety
  • Oversee camper behavior, promoting positive interactions and implementing effective behavior management strategies
  • Maintain constant vigilance over campers during water activities, adhering strictly to safety protocols and first aid procedures
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members to plan engaging camp programs that incorporate sports coaching, arts, or theater elements
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about camper progress and any safety concerns
  • Assist in setting up equipment, maintaining surf gear, and ensuring all safety equipment is in excellent condition

Experience

  • Prior experience working with children or in a childcare setting such as daycare, summer camp, or tutoring is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications in special education or childhood development are a plus
  • Experience in sports coaching, babysitting, or working with students enhances your ability to connect with campers
  • Familiarity with outdoor activities like surfing, swimming, or other water sports is beneficial
  • Background in Christian counseling or youth mentorship can add value to fostering a supportive camp environment
  • Demonstrated ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively while maintaining a positive attitude

Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour
