Surgery Coordinator

Our practice prides itself on its commitment and personalized care of each and every patient. Our physician provides a variety of eye surgical services and the role of the surgical coordinator is to extend the professionalism and quality of care in preparing the patient for upcoming procedures.

Surgery Coordinator duties include but are not limited to the following:

*Scheduling surgeries

*Counseling the patient regarding outcome expectations along with risk and benefits of procedure which the physician has already outlined

*Counseling patient on all pre and post operative instructions

*Verifying Insurance, obtaining any required prior authorization or pre certification.

*Verification, documentation of eligibility and benefits used to determine patient expected finical liability.

*Collection of all anticipated patient liability prior to services rendered.

*Coordination and communication with any referring physicians.

*Coordination and communication with surgical facilities in which services are to be rendered.

*Preparation of surgical candidates for the scheduled day.

*Posting of any and all surgical procedures in practice management software.

In order to fulfill the above duties the candidate for this position must posses the following:

*Comprehensive knowledge of ICD 10 and CPT codes and HCPCS Modifiers

This position requires a comprehensive understanding of an ophthalmic practice and insurance knowledge

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and Electronic Medical Records System

Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with patients, physicians, co-workers and team supervisor is critical.

Must be willing to help throughout the practice and be flexible to working in a team environment.

Minimum 1 year of ophthalmic experience or comparable in the role of technician, coordinator etc.

Working knowledge of medical management software and windows based systems is a must.
