Position Summary
Integrity Orthopedics is seeking a highly organized and patient-focused Orthopedic Surgical Coordinator / Medical Assistant to support both the clinical and surgical operations of the practice. This position is responsible for coordinating surgical procedures, obtaining authorizations, facilitating pre-operative planning, and assisting with daily clinical operations including patient rooming, vital signs, communication with patients, imaging preparation, and administrative support.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced orthopedic environment and can seamlessly transition between surgical scheduling responsibilities and direct patient care support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Surgical Coordination
- Schedule orthopedic surgeries, procedures, and post-operative appointments.
- Coordinate with hospitals, surgery centers, anesthesia providers, implant representatives, and ancillary services.
- Obtain and track insurance authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.
- Coordinate pre-operative testing, medical clearances, laboratory work, and imaging.
- Ensure all surgical documentation is complete prior to surgery.
- Communicate surgery instructions, arrival times, and preparation requirements to patients.
- Maintain accurate surgical schedules and physician calendars.
Clinical Medical Assistant Responsibilities
- Room patients and prepare examination rooms.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and chief complaints.
- Assist physicians during clinic visits and procedures as needed.
- Prepare patients for orthopedic examinations and treatments.
- Set up and prepare patients for in-office X-rays.
- Ensure imaging orders and documentation are completed accurately.
- Maintain exam room cleanliness and stock clinical supplies.
Patient Communication
- Answer and manage the Medical Assistant phone line.
- Return patient calls regarding medications, appointments, test results, surgical questions, and physician instructions.
- Relay clinical questions to providers and document communications in the EMR
- Provide exceptional customer service and patient support.
Administrative Support
- Review, sort, distribute, and upload incoming faxes into the EMR.
- Process medical records and physician orders.
- Monitor provider task lists and assist with workflow management.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation in the electronic medical record system.
- Assist with prior authorizations for medications, imaging, injections, and procedures.
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and confidentiality standards are maintained.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Medical Assistant certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in surgical scheduling/coordinating. Candidates without any previous experience, will not be considered.
- Experience with surgery scheduling and insurance authorizations.
- Knowledge of orthopedic terminology and procedures.
- Strong understanding of EMR systems.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
