Location: Hyannis, MA
Duration: 13 Weeks Contract
Pay Rate: $55 – $60 per hour (based on experience)

  • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

  • 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Hours: 40 hours per week

Schedule Notes

  • Extensive on-call responsibilities required

  • Rotating weekends and holidays required

  • Must be willing to float to General OR when needed

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Surgical Technologist to support surgical teams during cardiovascular procedures in a hospital operating room environment.

The Surgical Technologist will assist surgeons and registered nurses by maintaining a sterile surgical field, preparing instruments and equipment, and supporting the surgical team throughout procedures. This role plays a critical part in ensuring patient safety, efficient surgical workflow, and compliance with infection control standards and surgical protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Operating Room Preparation

  • Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, sterile solutions, and required equipment.

  • Ensure surgical instruments and equipment are functioning properly before procedures begin.

  • Assemble sterile and non-sterile equipment required for surgical cases.

Intraoperative Surgical Support

  • Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and sterile supplies.

  • Hold retractors, cut sutures, and provide assistance as required during surgery.

  • Perform surgical counts of sponges, needles, instruments, and supplies according to safety protocols.

  • Prepare and handle surgical specimens for laboratory analysis.

Sterile Technique & Infection Control

  • Maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures according to hospital policies and professional standards.

  • Follow strict infection prevention and sterilization procedures.

  • Apply appropriate sterilization techniques for surgical instruments and specialized equipment.

Patient Preparation & Support

  • Assist in transporting patients to the operating room.

  • Safely position patients on the operating table for surgical procedures.

  • Support application of surgical dressings and assist in preparing patients for post-operative transfer.

Equipment & Medication Handling

  • Ensure availability of surgeon-specific instruments according to preference cards and departmental protocols.

  • Operate surgical equipment including lights, suction devices, and diagnostic equipment as needed.

  • Under supervision, assist with preparation and labeling of medications used during surgical procedures.

Post-Procedure Responsibilities

  • Assist in transferring patients to the recovery area.

  • Support operating room turnover by cleaning, restocking supplies, and preparing for the next case.

  • Maintain operating room cleanliness and ensure equipment readiness.

Team Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Collaborate with nurses and surgical staff to maintain surgical equipment and instrumentation.

  • Participate in team meetings, training programs, and professional development activities.

  • Assist with orientation and training of new operating room staff when required.

  • Promote teamwork and maintain a professional environment focused on patient safety and quality care.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of CVOR Surgical Technologist experience required

  • Must be willing to float to General OR as needed

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist / Operating Room Technician program (civilian or military)

  • Surgical Technologist Certification from a nationally accredited certifying body recognized by organizations such as:

    • National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)

    • American College of Surgeons

    • Association of Surgical Technologists

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required

  • Strong communication skills and ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
