Surveillance Investigator

CalStar Unlimited (CA PI# 187978), a private investigative firm focused on insurance investigations, is looking to hire a Surveillance Investigator based in or near the San Jose, California area.

A Surveillance Investigator will conduct surveillance on a subject and covertly film his/her activities to aid with our client’s investigative goals. Most surveillance is done from a vehicle, but surveillance may also need to be done on foot. This person will also be occasionally required to discreetly talk to individuals in the field to gain information and serve subpoenas. Although the investigator will be based in or near San Jose, the regular service area will include the Greater Bay Area.

Successful surveillance investigators come from all backgrounds and experiences, but the ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:

- An independent worker with integrity, a commitment to producing good work, and the ability to make sound decisions quickly

- A clean driving record and a suitable vehicle to conduct surveillance work

- The ability and willingness to work irregular hours, including early mornings, late evenings, long days, weekends, and holidays, if our cases require them. Additionally, the ideal candidate must be willing to work in uncomfortable conditions, including in hot or cold weather.

- Good communication skills, both in written and oral form. A fluency in Spanish is also helpful.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of surveillance experience, but we will also consider entry-level candidates and provide complete training upon hire. The starting wage for this position is commensurate with experience, and the exact hours will vary from week to week. Due to the nature of the work, this position can accrue daily and weekly overtime on a regular basis.
