Position Title: Surveyor
Department: Construction / Site Operations
Location: Various Project Sites
Reports To: Project Engineer / Site Engineer / Construction Manager
1. Position Summary
The Surveyor is responsible for conducting land, structural, and layout surveys for construction projects. The role ensures accurate measurements, leveling, and alignment of works in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and engineering standards. Survey data supports setting out, progress monitoring, and quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Site Surveying & Setting Out
- Perform all surveying tasks required for construction activities (roads, buildings, utilities, infrastructure).
- Set out coordinates, levels, alignments, and reference points as per approved drawings.
- Establish benchmarks, control points, and gridlines.
- Ensure accuracy in horizontal and vertical alignment of works.
B. Use of Surveying Instruments
- Operate and maintain Total Station, GPS, Auto Level, Theodolite, and digital measuring tools.
- Calibrate instruments regularly and report any malfunction.
- Download, process, and analyze survey data using approved software.
C. Drawings & Documentation
- Review IFC drawings, shop drawings, and project specifications.
- Prepare survey reports, sketches, and as-built drawings.
- Maintain accurate and updated field records, logs, and survey data files.
- Coordinate with Draftsman for preparing as-built submissions.
D. Coordination & Technical Support
- Coordinate with Site Engineers, Foremen, Subcontractors, and QA/QC for inspections.
- Provide accurate survey information to teams for structural, civil, and infrastructure works.
- Verify levels and dimensions before casting concrete or installing elements.
- Highlight discrepancies between drawings and site conditions.
E. Quality Assurance
- Ensure all measurements are within project tolerances and engineering standards.
- Verify completed works before internal and consultant inspections.
- Report variances, conflicts, or rework needs to the Project Engineer.
F. Safety & Compliance
- Follow all HSE rules, permit-to-work procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Use PPE at all times while working on site.
- Ensure safe placement and use of surveying instruments on active work zones.
3. Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 3–7 years of experience as a Surveyor on construction projects.
- Experience with roads, utility networks, infrastructure, or building construction is an advantage.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of surveying principles, leveling, and setting out.
- Proficiency in Total Station, GPS, and Auto Level operations.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and establish control points.
- Competent in AutoCAD, survey software, and data processing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable working outdoors, in hot weather, and in active construction zones.
- Ability to move equipment between locations.

5. Additional Notes

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: AED1,500.00 - AED2,000.00 per month
