Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sushi Chef/Cook to join our vibrant culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing authentic sushi dishes with precision, creativity, and attention to detail. Your expertise will help deliver an exceptional dining experience for our guests, showcasing your mastery of Japanese cuisine and food presentation. Duties

  • Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled in accordance with food safety regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
  • Collaborate with team members to plan menus that highlight seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
  • Monitor portion control and minimize waste during food preparation and serving
  • Follow all food safety protocols, including proper knife skills, sanitation practices, and allergen management
  • Assist in catering events or special functions that require sushi or Japanese cuisine offerings

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a sushi chef or cook in a restaurant or fine dining setting
  • Strong knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and sanitation procedures
  • Expertise in culinary techniques specific to sushi preparation, including knife skills and ingredient selection
  • Experience with menu planning and meal preparation within the food industry
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards
  • Excellent teamwork skills with a focus on food service excellence
  • Prior dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus but not required
