The SVP/Marketing & Customer Experience is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading strategic marketing, branding, and communication efforts. This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution to drive brand awareness, customer acquisition, and community engagement. The Director of Marketing may manage a small internal marketing team and work closely with a third-party marketing agency to execute integrated marketing campaigns that reflect the bank’s mission, vision, and growth objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Strategic Planning & Leadership

Develop and execute the bank’s comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with corporate goals and business growth objectives.

Serve as a member of the management team, contributing to organizational planning, product development, and customer experience initiatives.

Manage and mentor the marketing team, fostering collaboration, creativity, and accountability.

Partner with retail, commercial, and digital banking leadership to ensure marketing initiatives support departmental objectives.

Report to Executive team on monthly performance of marketing efforts and prepare necessary reports.
Brand & Communications
-
Strengthen and maintain the bank’s brand identity across all platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and visual standards.

Oversee the development of marketing collateral, advertising, and internal/external communications.
-
Manage media relations, sponsorships, and public relations initiatives to enhance the bank’s community presence and reputation.
Agency Collaboration

Serve as the primary liaison between the bank and its external marketing or advertising agency.

Oversee agency relationships, budgets, and deliverables to ensure alignment with strategic goals and compliance requirements.

Review and approve creative concepts, campaigns, and media plans developed by the agency.
-
Coordinate internal approvals and ensure all materials meet regulatory, brand, and quality standards.
Digital Marketing & Analytics

Lead the bank’s digital marketing strategy, including website management, internal intranet management, SEO/SEM, social media, email marketing, and online advertising.

Use data and analytics to measure marketing performance, customer engagement, and ROI.

Ensure all digital and traditional marketing activities comply with regulatory and security standards.
Community Engagement
-
Plan, promote, and support community involvement programs, sponsorships, and financial literacy initiatives.

Collaborate with bank leaders to develop local marketing plans and community engagement strategies.

Design and manage internal events that foster employee connection and morale with HR and bank leaders.
Product Marketing & Customer Experience

Partner with product and business line leaders to develop marketing campaigns for deposits, loans, and digital banking products.

Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer insights to inform product positioning and marketing decisions.

Support initiatives to enhance customer experience, satisfaction, and retention.
-
Lead internal Customer Experience Committee.
Budget & Vendor Management
-
Develop and manage the annual marketing budget.
-
Negotiate and manage contracts with agencies, designers, printers, and media outlets to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Serve on various bank committees.

Complete required CRA officer initiatives

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred).

7–10 years of progressive marketing experience in banking.

5+ years of proven leadership experience managing a marketing team.

Strong understanding of community banking principles and local market dynamics (experience in community banking plus larger bank dynamics preferred).

Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, brand management, and digital marketing.
-
Proficiency in marketing analytics, CRM platforms, and campaign management tools.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Familiarity with financial industry marketing regulations and compliance requirements.
