Position: Switchgear Testing and Commissioning Engineer
Location: Doha
Contract Duration: 12 months (Extendable)
Working Days and Hours: Saturday to Thursday 10-hour shift including 1hr lunch break

Salary Package: Up to 9,000.00 QAR All Inclusive of all benefits and allowances

Job Summary:
Our client, a global engineering technology company in Qatar is seeking a qualified Switchgear Testing and Commissioning Engineer to join their team in Doha. The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Siemens medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) switchgear systems at industrial, commercial, and utility sites. The role requires strong technical expertise, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work independently on commissioning projects.

Key Responsibilities:

· Perform pre-commissioning, testing, and commissioning activities for Siemens MV and LV switchgear systems.

· Conduct functional testing of protection relays, circuit breakers, control circuits, interlocking systems, and auxiliary equipment.

· Execute primary and secondary injection testing, insulation resistance testing, contact resistance testing, and other electrical tests.

· Verify equipment installation against project specifications, drawings, and Siemens standards.

· Diagnose and troubleshoot switchgear, protection, control, and communication system issues.

· Prepare commissioning reports, test records, punch lists, and final documentation.

· Coordinate with project managers, clients, consultants, and site teams to ensure successful project completion.

· Support energization activities and system handover to clients.

· Ensure compliance with Siemens procedures, IEC standards, and site safety regulations.

· Provide technical support during warranty and post-commissioning periods when required.

· Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and customer training sessions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in switchgear engineering, commissioning, testing, or maintenance.
• Previous experience working with Siemens LV/MV switchgear systems is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
• Good communication and reporting skills in English.
• Experience in industrial, commercial, or utility projects
• Knowledge of SCADA/Automation interface with switchgear systems
• Strong understanding of protection relays, control schemes, and electrical drawings
• Knowledge of IEC standards and electrical safety regulations
• Ability to read and interpret SLDs, schematic diagrams and wiring drawings
• Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment and relay test kits (OMICRON, Megger, etc.).
