Quality Assurance Analyst

Job Description:

• Work closely with service providers and project teams to develop testing strategies, coordinate testing activities and manage issue resolution
• Lead/direct overall Test Phases from planning to closure and successfully complete the Test Phase
• Determine QA Work Breakdown Structure components and coordinate with Project Managers
• Responsible for determining and managing the work of junior QA Analysts, including coaching and mentoring the team to best practices
• Analyze project or requirement documents to identify scope of testing and formulate that information into test plans and test cases
• Review requirements and other project artifacts for quality and content
• Develop Master Test Plan and Strategy by identifying appropriate test techniques and tools that ensure product quality and test completion
• Conduct project walkthrough of applicable QA test documents (e.g. Master Test Plan, Quality Plan) prior to execution
• Identify risk and maximize test effectiveness by prioritizing and sequencing testing
• Develop the test case documents according to the Master Test Plan/Test Strategy
• Record, report, and track defects to accurately reflect the status of the testing phase and quality of the software
• Facilitate triage of defects and assist in defect investigation and escalation
• Walk through the test results with the team and communicate status to Project Managers
• Participate in release meetings for maintenance and development projects ensuring all requirements pertaining to testing are met
• Assist with the implementation of automated testing tools
• Collaborate with other areas within IT to identify and improve testing tools and approaches

Job Qualifications:

• 4 years of professional QA experience in leading testing activities for all phases of the testing lifecycle in a medium to large IT web-based and/or client/server environment, consisting of multiple platforms and technologies
• Professional with test lead experience and complex projects with multiple interfaces and/or 3rd parties
• Experience liaising between vendor and key business groups with respect to all levels of testing
• Experience designing and evaluating tests
• Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities
• Advanced project management knowledge (issues/resources/schedules/negotiation/conflict resolution)
• Strong judgment and the ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce
• Excellent English communication skills (verbal, written) and ability to work effectively with various levels of staff, management and external partners
• Excellent knowledge of testing concepts, verification and validation techniques, defect management, and risk management
• Ability to multi-task to accomplish workload efficiently. Excellent time management
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and planning ability

Technical Skills:

• Excellent testing knowledge with some of the following applications/database and technologies that utilize:
• Black box testing strategies
• Test Management and Defect Tracking tool experience on HP Quality Center or others mandatory
• Functional/Non-Functional and Regression Testing experience
• Knowledgeable and have experience with technologies such as MS.NET, Web Services, Java, etc.
• Familiar and exposure with best practice IT Standards, QA Methodologies, and SDLC
• Familiar and exposure with database management and design is an asset
• Experience with Performance/Load Testing is an asset
• Experience writing SQL is an asset
