About the Role

F-Technologies is looking for a hands-on Systems & Application Server Engineer to manage daily infrastructure operations across Linux servers, Windows servers, virtual machines, application servers, IIS, Nginx, Docker-based application environments, databases, services, scheduled jobs, logs, patching, monitoring, backups, and enterprise application support. This role is ideal for an engineer who is strong in production server operations, takes ownership of their systems, communicates changes proactively, and can maintain reliable application environments from the virtualization and OS layer up to application runtime and business system integrations.

Key Responsibilities

Linux, Windows & VM Operations

- Manage Linux and Windows servers across production, staging, testing, and development environments.

- Operate servers hosted on virtualized infrastructure.

- Support VM provisioning, resizing, snapshots, restoration, and OS-level troubleshooting.

- Perform daily health checks for CPU, memory, disk, services, logs, backups, security events, and system availability.

- Maintain server inventory, patch status, configuration records, and ownership documentation.

- Apply standardized server builds, baselines, and hardening requirements.

Application Server Administration

- Administer and troubleshoot application servers and runtimes such as IIS, Nginx, Apache, Tomcat, Node.js, Gunicorn, Uvicorn, and Java application servers.

- Manage SSL bindings, app pools, reverse proxy rules, service configuration, log rotation, and application startup procedures.

- Support deployment readiness from the server and runtime side.

- Troubleshoot 502/504 errors, application pool crashes, service failures, timeout issues, and slow application response.

Containerized Application Support

- Support Docker-based application environments.

- Troubleshoot container logs, volumes, ports, environment variables, restart loops, and resource limits.

- Support application services running inside containers where applicable.

- Ensure containers are monitored, documented, secured, and aligned with deployment standards.

- Escalate Kubernetes/OpenShift issues with clear troubleshooting evidence when applicable.

Automation-First Server Operations

- Automate daily Linux and Windows health checks.

- Automate service status checks for IIS, Nginx, Apache, Tomcat, Node.js, workers, schedulers, and background jobs.

- Automate SSL certificate expiry checks and alerts.

- Automate disk cleanup checks, log rotation checks, and capacity alerts.

- Use PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, or similar tools for server automation.

Enterprise Application Support

- Support infrastructure and access needs for CRM, ERP, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and other enterprise applications.

- Support application integrations, service accounts, scheduled jobs, connectors, API credentials, and data flow monitoring.

- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve infrastructure-related business application issues.

Security, Patching & Monitoring

- Harden Windows and Linux servers using approved security baselines.

- Ensure no credentials, service account passwords, API keys, or secrets are stored in plain text.

- Apply OS and application server patches according to approved maintenance schedules.; communicate all planned maintenance windows to stakeholders at least 72 hours in advance.

- Monitor suspicious login attempts, failed services, privilege escalation, and security events.

- Participate in incident response, RCA, and the on-call rotation for production incidents.

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure operations, or application server support.

- Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server and Linux in production.

- Experience operating servers hosted on virtualized infrastructure.

- Ability to manage VM lifecycle tasks (provisioning, resizing, snapshots, restoration, troubleshooting).

- Strong experience with IIS and at least one of Nginx, Apache, Tomcat, Node.js, Gunicorn, or Uvicorn.

- Practical Docker/container troubleshooting experience.

- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, RDP, SSH, SSL/TLS, and firewall basics.

- Experience with production patching, monitoring, backup checks, and incident support.

- Experience troubleshooting application server errors, service crashes, timeout issues, and performance problems.

- Experience with monitoring tools (PRTG, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, New Relic, or similar).

- Strong PowerShell automation; good Bash scripting.

- Understanding of secure credential handling.

- Must be based in Dubai, UAE.

Preferred Qualifications

- VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, Nutanix, OpenStack, or similar virtualization platforms.

- Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Entra ID, Teams, OneDrive, or Exchange Online.

- Supporting CRM/ERP (Zoho, Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, SAP, Oracle ERP, Odoo, or NetSuite).

- SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar.

- Python scripting; working with DevOps teams and CI/CD; Kubernetes/OpenShift troubleshooting exposure.
