Systems Designer/Engineer

Youngblood Automation (www.youngbloodautomation.com), a distributor and design/build integrator of pneumatic, hydraulic, lubrication, and motion control and automation products, and engineered systems seeks a Systems Designer/Engineer for its Engineered Systems & Services Group. The individual will assist with the design of fluid power systems. Responsibilities include selecting components, performing calculations to support system designs and preparing detailed schematics, system layouts, bills of material and quotes. Candidates must have CAD experience and some knowledge of fluid power and controls. Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline preferred. Responsibilities

  • Mechanical design of industrial fluid power systems, including hydraulic power units and test systems, lubrication systems, and pneumatic systems.
  • Provide support to the inside and outside sales teams and customers regarding product/system applications.
  • Conduct contract review to verify scope of supply including performance requirements, calculations, and testing.
  • Support in-house manufacturing of fluid power systems. Provide solutions to design-related concerns. Capture any changes using engineering change control processes.
  • Assist with system start-ups, as needed.

Background & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an engineer and/or fluid systems designer.
  • Associate or Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical).
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling CAD software.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software for engineering and manufacturing-related functions is a plus.
  • Experience with electrical wiring and industrial controls is a plus.
  • Good communication and networking skills together with the ability to build strong and trusting relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, building cooperation among individuals and departments, sharing information and resources, and working to achieve group goals and outcomes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Aptitude to learn about technical products and provide technical support to customers.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
