Job Description

Tensley Consulting is seeking a System Engineer to support mission systems engineering activities across complex enterprise and classified environments. The System Engineer provides technical expertise supporting network architecture, systems integration, infrastructure engineering, and lifecycle engineering activities across mission-critical systems.

This role works closely with government stakeholders, developers, and engineering teams to translate operational requirements into technical solutions that support secure, scalable, and reliable system capabilities. The System Engineer supports the full system lifecycle including requirements development, architecture design, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment activities while ensuring systems meet government mission objectives and technical standards.

This position will support engineering efforts within a lab and evaluation environment used to assess commercial technologies for use within secure government networks. Responsibilities include designing and maintaining networking environments, integrating hardware and software systems, supporting infrastructure upgrades, and implementing secure system configurations across Linux and Windows platforms.

The System Engineer will also support network and infrastructure modernization efforts including virtualization upgrades, secure certificate infrastructure, and automated configuration management.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Twenty (20) years of experience as a System Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Five (5) years of additional system engineering experience may be substituted in place of the degree.

Salary: $210,000-$235,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position, but is not guaranteed. Salary is based on experience, location and contractual requirements which could fall outside of the range listed.

Experience supporting systems engineering activities across the system development lifecycle
Experience analyzing user requirements, concepts of operation, and system architectures
Hands-on experience with network architecture, engineering, and infrastructure integration
Experience supporting Cisco, Juniper, and Aruba networking technologies
Experience working within mixed hardware and software environments
Strong experience supporting Linux/Unix-based systems administration and engineering
Experience writing and executing Linux command-line and PowerShell scripts
Experience supporting Rocky Linux or similar enterprise Linux distributions
Experience supporting VMware virtualization environments and infrastructure upgrades
Experience supporting Microsoft SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager)
Experience supporting system integration, verification, and validation activities
Experience developing systems engineering documentation
Experience translating operational mission requirements into technical system solutions
Experience supporting configuration management and change control processes
Experience collaborating with engineering teams, developers, and government stakeholders

Experience creating and managing PKI certificates
