A Tally accountant specializing in payroll support manages the end-to-end payroll process within the Tally software environment, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all statutory regulations. The role typically involves a blend of core accounting skills and specific payroll management responsibilities. Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing: Process accurate and timely payroll for all employees, including calculations for salaries, bonuses, and commissions.
- Data Management: Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, leaves (paid and unpaid), attendance data, and salary adjustments in TallyPrime or Tally ERP 9.
- Statutory Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations in India, including the accurate calculation and filing of:
- Provident Fund (PF) and Employee State Insurance (ESI)
- Professional Tax (PT)
- Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on salaries
- Generation of related challans and statutory forms
- Reconciliation & Reporting:
- Reconcile payroll data with bank statements and general ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports and payslips for management, internal/external audits, and employees.
- Inquiry Handling: Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies from employees promptly and professionally.
- General Accounting Support: Assist with other general accounting functions as needed, such as journal entries, bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and supporting month-end/year-end closing activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce is typically preferred.
- Software Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience and proficiency in TallyPrime or Tally ERP 9's accounting and payroll modules are essential.
- Accounting Knowledge: A solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Taxation Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant Indian taxation and statutory compliance laws (GST, TDS, PF, ESI, etc.).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis and reporting.
