Tank Innspection Technition & Mechanic

Job Overview
We are looking for a dual-role Diesel Mechanic & Tank Inspection Technician to oversee the mechanical health of our fleet and the compliance of our petroleum transport equipment. This role is critical for ensuring that our heavy-duty vehicles run efficiently and our fuel tanks meet strict safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Maintenance & Repair

Diesel Diagnostics: Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues on heavy-duty diesel engines.

Routine Service: Execute preventative maintenance schedules, including oil samples, valve adjustments, and cooling system flushes.

Chassis & Powertrain: Service transmissions, differentials, air brake systems, and steering components.

Petroleum Tank Inspection & Compliance

Visual & Leak Testing: Conduct routine inspections of petroleum cargo tanks to identify signs of corrosion, stress cracking, or leaks.

Equipment Verification: Inspect and maintain tank components, including venting systems, emergency valves, loading adapters, and overfill protection sensors.

Regulatory Documentation: Complete detailed inspection reports and maintain records required by local and federal transportation and environmental agencies.

Safety Protocols: Ensure all work on fuel-related equipment is performed in accordance with hazardous material handling and vapor recovery safety standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably with experience in a petroleum or hazardous materials hauling environment.

Certifications:

ASE Diesel Certifications preferred.

Formal training or certification in tank inspection (such as EPA or specialized industry standards) is a significant plus.

Technical Proficiency: Ability to read schematics and use diagnostic software for both engines and tank electronic systems.

Safety Mindset: Deep understanding of the risks associated with petroleum products and a commitment to "safety first" operations.

Physical Requirements: Ability to maneuver in tight spaces for tank inspections and lift up to 75 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

CDL Class A or B: With Tanker (N) and Hazmat (H) endorsements for moving and testing equipment.

Welding Skills: Experience with aluminum or stainless steel welding for minor tank or frame repairs.

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
