Tasting Room Associate

Job Overview

The Tasting Room Associate is a learning position, providing opportunities to learn about various aspects of cafe’ operations. You will be responsible for providing an exceptional experience to winery guests. This role involves educating guests about our wines, pouring wine and coffee flights, serving food, and promoting sales. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wine, coffee, the customer experience, and the ability to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet all visitors and provide a welcoming atmosphere in the tasting room.
• Taking tableside and/or counter orders from guests.
• Create wine and coffee flights, sharing knowledge about each selection.
• Assist guests with purchases, including packaging and processing transactions accurately.
• Prepare and serve beverages, and assist with the fulfillment of food orders, ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the tasting room, including sanitizing flight trays, coffee equipment, washing glassware/plates, and sweeping floor.
• Monitor and maintain the patio, gathering glassware and debris as necessary.
• Restock wine and merchandise as needed. Must be able to lift a case of wine, about 30-40 lbs.
• Stay informed about winery events, promotions, and policies to effectively communicate with guests.
• Adhere to all safety, food handling, and alcohol service regulations, and to the winery’s employee handbook.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work Saturdays, some holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day), and Friday evenings.
• Basic math skills for handling transactions.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds (a case of wine).
• Enthusiasm for wine, coffee, and a desire to learn more about both.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or retail; experience in and/or knowledge of the wine or coffee industry is a plus.
• Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
• Sales experience, particularly in promoting memberships (we offer a wine loyalty club).

Compensation:

• Competitive hourly wage plus tips.

Pay: $17.00 - $27.00 per hour
