Position Summary
Houck Evarts & Company LLC is seeking a motivated and experienced Tax Senior to join our growing public accounting firm. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with business owners, individuals, trusts, estates, nonprofit organizations, and closely held businesses while providing high-quality tax compliance, planning, and advisory services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, estates, and nonprofit organizations.
- Perform tax research and communicate findings to partners, staff, and clients.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and assist with implementation strategies.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service.
- Assist clients with IRS and state tax notices, audits, and compliance matters.
- Train, mentor, and review the work of tax staff and interns.
- Participate in tax projections, entity structure planning, and advisory engagements.
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax estimates.
- Assist with trust and estate administration, including Forms 1041 and 706.
- Work collaboratively with bookkeeping and accounting staff to resolve client issues and improve reporting accuracy.
- Maintain accurate time and project management records while meeting established deadlines.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and technology implementation efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- CPA license preferred or actively pursuing CPA certification.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of recent public accounting tax experience.
- Strong understanding of federal and state taxation for individuals and business entities.
- Experience with trust, estate, nonprofit, or closely held business taxation is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and tax preparation software.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with CCH Axcess Tax and related workflow software.
- Experience reviewing work prepared by staff accountants.
- Familiarity with Oregon tax law and compliance requirements.
- Experience providing tax planning and advisory services to closely held businesses.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
