Noah's Ark is a ministry extension of Valparaiso First Church and is a means to bring saving faith into the lives of children and families who enter through its doors. Therefore, Noah's Ark must reflect that unity of purpose throughout its staff. Our mission is to minister to a vital need of the community by providing quality childcare in a loving, Christian atmosphere. We strive to help each child develop intellectually, socially, emotionally, spiritually, and maintain the confidence of our parents by assuring their child is in capable hands during their time with us.

Position Summary

The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing a high-quality early childhood classroom that reflects our faith-based mission. The Lead Teacher provides spiritual guidance, educational leadership, and daily care while ensuring compliance with all licensing and program standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, faith-based curriculum and daily lesson plans
• Integrate biblical teachings, prayer, worship songs, and Christian values into classroom activities
• Maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment
• Observe, assess, and document children’s developmental progress
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians
• Guide children’s behavior using positive, age-appropriate techniques
• Ensure classroom compliance with state licensing regulations and school policies
• Maintain accurate attendance, lesson plans, and required documentation
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development
• Assist with classroom setup, cleanliness, and organization

Qualifications

• A personal commitment to the Christian faith and the mission of the program
• At least 1 year of experience working with preschool-aged children
• Previous leadership or classroom management experience preferred
• Knowledge of child development and early learning standards
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to pass background checks and meet all state licensing requirements

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift to 26-28 pounds
